Pool Platforms

Pool Platforms

Custom built platforms that lock the pool down and keep the build moving. Built on your pool, on the day, to fit any shape or size. Engineer designed and Form 15 certified.

The Original

Invented here. Copied everywhere.

Pool covers, pool void covers, pool lids, hard covers, platforms, working platforms, call them what you want. They were thought up and invented by the founder of Aus Fence Hire, Mr Jeff Smith, some 15 years ago. Many others have taken Jeff's invention and tried to imitate it, register trademarked names and pass off questionable designs. But if you want the original and the best, tried and tested by more pool builders, builders and homeowners than any other provider, then come and see Aus Fence Hire for your cover, void cover, lid or platform. All our platforms are rigorously engineered to the precise millimetre and kilonewton (mm and kN) for stability and safety, and our engineers constantly review our designs to make sure the best and most reliable materials are used to protect your pool.

Quality checked

Every unit is inspected and signed off before it leaves the yard, so what turns up on site is right the first time.

Choose Your Load

Choose the platform that suits your load.

Every system carries its rated safe working load for each 1.2 metre section along the length of the pool. A longer pool simply gets more rated sections.

Compliant

Material checks, build checks and full traceability on every platform, so it meets and beats the Australian standards it needs to.

Engineer designed

Every platform is designed to certified engineering specs, from the timber grade to the structure.

Scaffold Rated

Scaffold rated when you need it.

Our 450kg platforms are built to take a scaffold system on top.

Our platforms suit

  • New concrete pool shells
  • Fibreglass pools, with or without coping
  • Existing pools, any shape, including kidney and peanut
  • Above ground and plunge pools

Every platform is a trafficable work platform. The 450kg is our scaffold rated platform, ply sheeted. Our team checks every job.

Compliance

Technical standards.

Our platforms are designed and built to meet and beat the current Australian standards for pool safety and structural load. Every install comes with a Form 15 engineering certificate, the one your builder and site manager will ask for. Watch out for anyone offering a manufacturing certificate from a hardware retailer, site managers do not accept those.

Additional Services

Most builds need both.

Most pool builds need a fence and a platform at different stages. We do both, so it is one call and one team the whole way through.

Temporary pool fencing and gates

Compliant panels and self closing gates, delivered and set up by our crew.

Pool Platforms

Custom built platforms rated to 110kg, 225kg and 450kg, built on your pool on the day.

How it usually runs

The fence goes up the day the dig starts. Once the shell is in and set, we come back, put a platform on and remove the fence if required. The platform stays for the build. At handover we remove the platform and return the fence for as long as needed, until the permanent pool fence is installed and certified.

Need both? One call sorts the lot.

FAQs

Pool Platform questions.

What is a pool platform made of?

Our platforms are built from LVL bearers and joists. On concrete pools we use props for extra support. On fibreglass pools we use thicker LVL and no props, so the shell is never damaged. The top is sheeted in F17 form ply or Colorbond. Do not settle for inferior designs that buckle, bend and bow.

What size pool can you cover?

For fibreglass pools we can cover up to about 4.5m across, limited by transport. For concrete pools there is really nothing too big.

Does my pool need a fence or a platform?

Concrete pools usually use a fence during the dig, then a platform. Fibreglass pools often need both. Give us a call and we will sort out which.

How long do the platforms last?

A platform will typically last 12 months easily before any warping or splitting of the ply. That is why we favour Colorbond, and unlike some suppliers we give you the choice of Colorbond or ply.

How long does it take to install?

Anywhere from one hour to a few hours. Either way it is done in a day.

How do you know what a platform can hold?

Each platform design, 110kg, 225kg and 450kg, has been engineered to the exact millimetre and kilonewton by our team of engineers, and each is built to hold well above its stated load for added safety.

Is a platform certified?

[HOLD FOR ANNA SIGN OFF] There are clear guidelines for temporary pool fencing and gates, but these do not currently extend to platforms, so whether one is accepted comes down to the individual pool inspector. What we can tell you is that our platforms are safe and secure.
